Our Vision & Mission

A future where prevention means creating something better to choose.

Young people are surrounded by choices, pressures and risks. We believe lasting prevention does not begin by simply telling them what not to do. It begins by creating opportunities, relationships and experiences that give them something positive to move towards.

Why we exist

Ambitious for young people. Practical about how we get there.

Youth Futures Partnership exists to help communities move from reacting to harm after it happens towards preventing it through opportunity, engagement and earlier support.

Our vision

Every young person can see a future worth choosing.

We want communities where young people have access to exciting opportunities, trusted adults, practical skills and genuine routes into education and employment — regardless of where they live or the challenges around them.

Our mission

Find where opportunity is missing — and take it there.

We bring partners, local intelligence and innovative youth provision together to understand where harm is occurring, engage young people through activities they genuinely value, and create pathways into skills, mentoring, qualifications, education and work.

What we believe

Prevention should feel like opportunity, not punishment.

Our approach starts with a simple question: if we want a young person to move away from a risky behaviour, what meaningful alternative are we putting in front of them?

🚀

Opportunity changes direction

A new skill, mentor, interest or ambition can change how a young person sees themselves and what they believe is possible.

📍

Go where young people are

Support should not depend entirely on young people finding a service. Mobile and community-based provision can take opportunity directly to them.

🎮

Engagement must be genuine

Gaming, sport, cars, music, trades, technology, food and creative activity are not gimmicks. They are powerful starting points for relationships and learning.

🗣️

Young people need a voice

Programmes should be shaped with young people, not simply designed for them. Their experiences and interests should influence what is delivered.

🤝

No organisation can do it alone

Schools, families, councils, employers, youth workers, charities, health services and community safety partners all see different parts of the picture.

📊

Evidence should guide action

Resources should go where the need is greatest, and programmes should be measured so we understand what works and what needs to change.

Our principles

How we intend to work.

These principles should shape every Youth Futures programme, partnership and decision as the organisation grows.

1

Young person first

We start with the needs, strengths, interests and potential of the young person rather than defining them by a behaviour or risk.

2

Prevent earlier

We aim to create positive alternatives before risky behaviour develops into entrenched harm or crisis.

3

Be visible and accessible

We take provision into communities and remove unnecessary barriers to participation wherever possible.

4

Make it worth turning up

Activities should be high quality, relevant and enjoyable. Young people should participate because they want to, not because somebody has made them.

5

Turn engagement into progression

Where possible, every activity should create a next step: another skill, a qualification, mentoring, work experience, training, education or employment.

6

Work in partnership

We connect the organisations already working in communities rather than duplicating good provision that already exists.

7

Learn and adapt

We use evidence, feedback and outcomes to improve programmes and direct future resources more intelligently.

8

Protect trust

Safeguarding, dignity, privacy and responsible use of information are fundamental to how we work with young people and partners.

The future we want to help build

What success looks like.

Our ambition is bigger than running activities. We want to help create communities where opportunity is easier to find and fewer young people reach the point where crisis intervention becomes necessary.

More young people engaged

Especially those who may not connect with traditional youth, education or support services.

More routes into opportunity

Skills, qualifications, mentoring, education, apprenticeships and employment become visible and achievable.

Less preventable harm

Earlier engagement and positive alternatives help communities respond before problems become entrenched.

Stronger communities

Young people, families, employers and public services work together rather than approaching each challenge in isolation.

“We are not here simply to tell young people to make better choices. We want to help make sure better choices actually exist.”

Build the future with us

Prevention works better when a whole community takes part.

We want to work with young people, schools, councils, employers, charities, community organisations and funders who share our belief that opportunity can be one of the most powerful forms of prevention.
